The Airlines Association of Southern Africa (AASA) is the representative airline body mandated to advocate for the interests of airlines in the Southern African Development Community (SADC). AASA represents the interests of airlines in the SADC regional economic bloc on matters relating to government policies, legislation, regulations, planning, operational efficiency, safety, security, taxes, charges, and fees. AASA plays the critical role of advocacy on behalf of its Airline Members to ensure their views on topical matters are heard by pertinent stakeholders. AASA focuses on matters that have a direct impact on the sustainability of its Airline Members as they seek to continue with the provision of affordable and accessible air transport services throughout the SADC region and beyond.

The Association of Southern African Travel Agents and Travel Advisors (ASATA) is the leading voice for Southern Africa’s travel industry. Since 1956, we’ve set the benchmark for professional and ethical service, ensuring peace of mind for travellers and advocating for the success of the travel industry. Representing around 95% of Southern Africa’s major travel brands and over 140 independent travel agents, ASATA continues to raise the bar, ensuring that both industry professionals and travellers benefit from the highest standards of expertise and service.
Federated Hospitality Association of Southern Africa (FEDHASA)
FEDHASA is the national trade association for the hospitality industry that include accommodation and catering sectors and has been representing the industry since 1949. FEDHASA vision is to be in the forefront of Southern Africa hospitality industry by influencing policy decision and direction by lobbying government and industry as the official unified voice of the Southern African hospitality industry. Our objective is to grow an inclusive hospitality industry by advocating, enhancing, and promoting the development and growth of a sustainable South African hospitality-trading environment.

The International Air Transport Association (IATA) is the trade association for the world’s airlines, representing some 350 airlines over 80% of global air traffic. We support many areas of aviation activity and help formulate industry policy on critical aviation issues.

The Southern African Tourism Services Association (SATSA) is a member-driven association that offers inbound tourism services companies the highest level of quality in the tourism industry. At SATSA, we strive to maintain our three key qualities in all of the work we do: credibility, value and authority. As an organisation, our members undergo a strict admission process that ensures peace of mind for those who seek to do business with credible tourism partners. SATSA members are required to sign a strict Code of Conduct and are required to submit updated documentation annually. SATSA further provides support to members who require key services and benefits on a local and regional level, and at international trade shows. The organisation also lobbies issues associated and affecting the inbound tourism industry.

The Board of Airline Representatives of South Africa (BARSA)
The Board of Airline Representatives of South Africa (BARSA) represents the interests of its international, regional and local member airlines and ground handlers to government, airport operators and stakeholders in the airline industry. Our aim is to facilitate and further develop a safe, efficient and viable aviation industry in South Africa. BARSA provides a single concerted voice on policy and other matters in relation to government and other stakeholders in transport, business and tourism.

The Tourism Business Council of South Africa (TBCSA) is the umbrella organisation representing the unified voice of business in the travel and tourism sector. Tourism Grading Council of South Africa (TGCSA)
Operating as a business unit of South African Tourism, the TGCSA is still the only recognised and globally credible quality assurance body for tourism products in South Africa, which is greatly relied on, to this day. All this means is that when it comes to globally recognisable grading, we really are the one and only. We maintain this title by committing to our motto, which is “To establish a recognisable and credible globally benchmarked system of quality assurance for accommodation and Venues experiences, which can be fully relied upon by visitors when choosing an establishment.” You can be sure to spot our Graded Stars that proudly bear the colours of our national flag, almost everywhere in South Africa. Thousands of accommodation institutions and Venues have earned their TGCSA Stars and have maintained high standards of quality in order to keep them. Granting stars where they rightly belong gives us great satisfaction. There are seven main types of establishments that travelers can choose from such as Formal Accommodation (Hotel, Apartment Hotel, Boutique Hotel, Small Hotel), Guest Accommodation (Bed & Breakfasts, Country Houses, Guest Houses), Self-Catering Accommodation (Exclusive, Shared), Game Lodge, Nature Lodge, Backpackers & Hostels, Caravan & Camping Sites and Venues. These establishments are graded by one of our Accredited Assessors and display the TGCSA Star insignia. Simply put, if it bears our TGCSA star plaque and certificate, you can expect outstanding quality and service excellence.
