Delta Responds to FAA Directive to Reduce Flights at Major U.S. Airports

The FAA and the U.S. Department of Transportation have issued a directive to reduce flights at 40 major U.S. airports beginning Friday, 7 November.

This reduction, a response to the air traffic control staffing shortages caused by the ongoing government shutdown, is aimed at maintaining safety across the system.

The safety of our customers and people remains our top priority, always. We will work to minimize customer impact during this time while keeping you informed every step of the way.

The vast majority of our flights will operate as scheduled, including all long-haul international service. We know flexibility is important, and we are providing additional flexibility to our customers traveling to, from or through the impacted markets during the impacted travel period to change, cancel or refund their flights, including Delta Main Basic fares, without penalty during this travel period.

Transparency is vital, and we will be providing customers with as much notice as possible about any changes or impacts to travel schedules. We encourage travelers to continue to check their flight status on Delta.com and the Fly Delta app, as well as Delta News Hub for any additional updates.
